At the moment, no single neuroscientific method provides sufficient information to give complete answers with regards to the brain-behaviour relationship in humans. In order to make significant advancements, researchers require access to diverse methods that provide glimpses onto brain function at different spatio-temporal scales.
Researchers at the CCNS have on-site access to all state-of-the-art research facilities that can be expected from ambitious cognitive neuroscience institutions (see also the Core facility (CF) Cognitive Neuroscience entry in the Research Infrastructures in Austria database). Facilities are located at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg and at the University Hospital Salzburg. These include:
- 3T MRI scanner (see also Large equipment MRT System Magnetom Trio )
- 306 channel MEG laboratory
- Several high-density EEG laboratories (see also Large equipment High-density EEG )
- Brain stimulation laboratories
- Eye-tracking laboratory
- Hormone and histology laboratory
- Behavioral laboratories
- Child development laboratory
